Privacy Policy — Masajid Qatar

Masajid Qatar ("the App") helps you find the mosque nearest to your current location in Qatar. We built the App to collect as little information as possible. This policy explains what the App uses, and what it does not.

Summary

• No account or sign-up. The App has no login, registration, or user profiles.
• No data is stored by us. We do not operate any servers and never receive, store, or sell your data.
• Your location stays on your device, except when it is sent to the map services below to search for mosques near you.
• Prayer times are calculated entirely on your device — nothing is sent anywhere.
• No tracking, no ads, no analytics.

Information the App Uses

Location

When you grant permission, the App reads your device's approximate position ("while using the app" only) for one purpose: to search for mosques near you and to calculate how far away they are.

• Your location is processed on your device and sent only to two map services to perform the nearby search:
  • Apple Maps (an Apple service), in the same way the built-in Maps app does. Apple's handling of this data is described in Apple's Privacy Policy.
  • The OpenStreetMap Overpass API, a community-operated service that provides OpenStreetMap's public map data. Only your coordinates and the search radius are sent — no identifiers, no account, nothing else. The OpenStreetMap Foundation's data handling is described in its Privacy Policy.
• Your location is never stored by the App, never saved to a database, and never shared with us or used for any purpose other than the search itself.
• You can revoke location access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services. The App will still open, but it cannot find nearby mosques without location access.

Prayer Times

The prayer-time countdown (including approximate iqama times and Friday's Jumu'ah) is calculated astronomically on your device from your coordinates. No prayer-time service is contacted and nothing is transmitted.

Settings

Your language preference (English/Arabic) is stored only on your device and is not personal data.

Nothing Else

The App does not collect, request, or have access to:

• Your name, email address, phone number, or contacts
• Photos, files, microphone, or camera
• Advertising identifiers or any cross-app tracking data
• Usage analytics or crash reports sent to us

Third-Party Services

The App uses two services to find mosques near you:

• Apple Maps (MapKit), provided by Apple Inc., to search for mosques and display the map.
• OpenStreetMap data via the Overpass API, to include community-mapped mosques (mosque data © OpenStreetMap contributors).

When you tap "Get Directions," you can choose to navigate with Apple Maps, Google Maps, or Waze. The App opens the service you chose with the mosque's location (never your own position — the navigation app determines your position itself, under its own privacy policy: Apple, Google, Waze). If the chosen app is not installed, the link opens in your browser instead.

No other third-party services, SDKs, advertising networks, or analytics tools are used.

Children's Privacy

The App does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

Data Retention and Deletion

Because the App does not collect or store personal data, there is nothing for us to retain or delete. Removing the App from your device removes everything associated with it.

Changes to This Policy

If the App's behavior changes in a way that affects your privacy, this policy will be updated and the effective date above will be revised before the change takes effect.
